Happiness is like training for a triathlon. Most (or even all) triathletes have one of their three disciplines that are out of focus at any given point. It might be swimming today. It could be running by the end of this week or cycling the next. But there is always one that is out of focus. It is what keeps triathletes motivated, day in and day out.
You have to focus on the process. You cannot be glued to the results. ~ Ivan Lendl
The balancing act of keeping the two that are already in focus clear, while attempting to see the third one in the distance. It is chasing this focus that get people out of their beds in the early hours of the morning. It is why you see people run in the rain and in the dark.
Your pursuit of happiness should always be a little out of focus. Otherwise your journey has come to an end. As you move forward, things close to you become identifiable and they affect the way you see things further in the distance. They stay out of focus. And it is a good thing.
