It starts as a distant sound. You can hear it but can’t make out what it is yet. You progress through life. One more instrument joins the noise today. That new iPhone. Another two or three next week. A PS 4 and a game or two. You add it to the collection of instruments already acquired on your journey. Consumerism takes hold of you, the sound becomes louder and ever more complex. You can never quiet make out what the music is even if it is a deafening volume at the moment. Hate when this happens. It sneaks up on you. Feeds on your subconscious. You only notice it when you stop long enough to ask "Does this instrument add value to the music of life?”.
