Some brands just get the whole idea of using social media as a way to communicate and teach to their customers and non-customers. The NorthFace is certainly one of the few with what they are putting out there on their media platforms. Whose athletes are at the top of their respective games, inspiring others to follow them. (They would naturally love it if you buy a NorthFace jacket along the way as well, of course). Mica to Greenland is a NorthFace documentary / really long advert about a quest Lucas Debari, Johnny Collinson, Hilaree O'Neill and Ralph Backstrom undertake. They are in pursuit of Greenland's most epic peaks.
“Candy is natures way of making up for Mondays." ~Unknown Author”
Living in South Africa I know next to nothing about snow, but love watching these clips. At some point in the clip, Lucas makes a brilliant observation. Being Greenland after all, the weather was spoiling the powder conditions due to rain. Skiing into a valley and looking at all the mountains they're surrounded with but cannot ski because the snow is "wet". Mmm, yes, I can see how that happens with snow.. At this point, Lucas makes the statement about them “being in a candy shop but all the candy is poisonous”. All they can do is stand in the store and look. I just want to point out at this stage, they were in Greenland and I don’t feel at all sorry for them..
I recon most of us look at our dreams in the same way. As a kid in a candy store, but for some reason we believe the sweets that are our dreams, are poisonous. If there is one thing that is good about a year ending and a new one beginning, it is the new commitment we make to achieving these dreams in the beginning of the new year. I'm lucky enough to have checked off some of the items on my list that I committed to a while ago. Some were low hanging fruit but still worth the effort. And others were complete moonshot, and o so worth it. The only way to know if the candy is poisonous, is to take a leap of faith and have a bite.
