So something strange happened today. Have you ever seen a trailer to a movie and though, wow, they made a movie about how I see my life without me even knowing about it. Got that today while watch the trailer for a Ben Stiller (no Fockers involved) called “The secret life of Walter Mitty”. Admittedly it is all Hollywood upped, but the core idea is there. Basically it is about Walter who is stuck in a glamorous (but dead end) job, dreaming of a life as an adventurer out in world exploring. Might just go and watch it then, hope it has a happy ending..
Also watched "Mandela: Long walk to freedom" and it is such a great movie. They say you must either do something worth writing about, or write something worth reading. Needles to say Nelson Mandela did a lot of things worth writing about, and Idris Elba did a eminent job of portraying his life story in the movie.
On the topic of South-Africa's past (and current) Presidents, for some reason watching the Mandela movie made me think: If you listen to the “I’m an African” speech of Thabo Mbeki, and imagine yourself that South-Africa’s current President Jacob Zuma was delivering the same speech, how much would get lost in translation of that message, so to speak?? A local comedian named Trevor Noah gave a stab at it, think he is on the correct track..
Write something worth reading.
What movie could be like your life storie???
